Worth pulling?
No pulling needed — free protagonist. Critical Blossom enabler for F2P. Always in starter team.
Esper Zero is the playable protagonist of NTE — a free Cosmos/Solid Sub DPS every player receives at the start of the game. She fills the Blossom reaction enabler role in F2P teams and provides a reliable burst window through the Divide-by-Zero Ultimate, which delivers a concentrated burst of Cosmos damage on a predictable cooldown. While she ranks T2 overall (outclassed by pulled Sub DPS options), her zero-cost acquisition and solid Blossom enabler function make her a permanent fixture in starter teams.
How to Play
Esper Zero’s primary job in a team is triggering Blossom reactions through Cosmos damage ticks, then stepping aside for the Main DPS. Her personal damage window is concentrated in the Divide-by-Zero Ultimate, which executes a high-multiplier Cosmos burst. A3 makes this burst hit critical thresholds at 50% crit rate, dramatically amplifying the window’s output.
Divide-by-Zero loop:
- Rotate to Esper Zero when Ultimate energy is available
- Activate Ultimate (Divide-by-Zero burst fires)
- Swap back to Main DPS to capture the Blossom reaction before it expires
The rotation is short and clean. Esper Zero does not demand extended on-field time, which is why she works in teams that need most field time on Nanally or Chiz.
Arc comparison:
| Arc | Key Effect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| The Rain That Shook the World | Max Cosmos DMG bonus, fits burst loop | BiS — peaks Divide-by-Zero output |
| Day Off | +30% ATK, skill-based | Strong alternative, especially if Jiuyuan uses Rain |
| Fluff of Fearlessness | F2P-friendly, covers core needs | Reliable fallback |
The Rain That Shook the World maximizes the Cosmos DMG% bonus directly on Divide-by-Zero. If Jiuyuan is on your team and already using this Arc, switch Esper Zero to Day Off to avoid splitting the same Arc across two users. Fluff of Fearlessness is the correct choice if you have no banner pulls to spare.
Awakening priority — A3 first: A3 grants a 50% CRIT Rate bonus specifically during the Divide-by-Zero activation. At base 30% CRIT Rate, A3 alone pushes you past the 50% threshold that makes the burst reliably critical without over-investing in CRIT Rate sub-stats. This frees module slots for CRIT DMG instead.
A1 improves the normal attack flow leading into Ultimate. A6 provides additional Cosmos DMG% when HP is above a threshold — useful in sustained fights but lower priority than A3.
Module set — Lost Radiance: Provides Cosmos DMG% boost and a CRIT ceiling amplifier specifically during Ultimate activations. Since Esper Zero’s entire value is concentrated in the Divide-by-Zero window, a set that activates on Ultimate use is the correct choice over generic ATK% sets.
Endgame stat targets:
- CRIT Rate: 50%+ (A3 covers the gap)
- CRIT DMG: 120%+
- ATK: 2,200+
- Cosmos DMG%: 40%+
Best Teams
F2P Starter: Esper Zero / Haniel / Mint / Chiz. Zero pulls required. Esper Zero enables Blossom reactions, Haniel buffs with Hootie, Mint covers rapid AoE, and Chiz handles burst damage through Grain conversion. See Mint, Haniel, and Chiz for individual roles. Full team page at /teams/.
Blossom Rush: Esper Zero / Nanally / Jiuyuan / Haniel. Esper Zero’s Cosmos ticks create the Blossom reaction surface for Nanally’s Anima attacks to trigger on. Jiuyuan adds a second Anima damage source. Haniel keeps ATK buff uptime. This team handles most content up to intermediate difficulty.
Charged Loop: Esper Zero / Chiz / Haniel / flex. Esper Zero’s Divide-by-Zero burst aligns with Chiz’s Grain conversion windows on a 30-second cycle. Both characters release their burst simultaneously, compressing damage into two concentrated windows per minute. See Chiz’s build for the Grain timing details.
Worth Pulling?
Esper Zero costs zero pulls. She is the mandatory starting character for every player. The question is never whether to include her but how to build her efficiently.
For early and mid game, use Fluff of Fearlessness (F2P Arc) and skip spending limited resources on Arc pulls for her. Once you have A3, she becomes a reliable Blossom enabler and Divide-by-Zero burst character through the full story.
In late game, players who pull Jiuyuan or Nanally will often slot Esper Zero as the third or fourth character to maintain Blossom reaction uptime. She never becomes obsolete — her niche as a free Cosmos DPS is permanent in any team that wants Blossom reactions without spending resources on Jiuyuan.
