Chiz is one of the most accessible S+-rarity characters in NTE — you obtain her completely free by reaching City Tycoon Level 18, requiring no Annulith and no pulls. As a Cosmos/Gas Main DPS built around the Grain resource generation mechanic, she fills a solid T1 slot in Charged Loop compositions and is the correct starting DPS for players who prefer to save their pull currency for buffers or limited characters.

How to Play

Chiz’s damage model is fundamentally different from most other DPS characters: rather than a simple ATK-CRIT loop, she builds and converts Grain, an internal resource generated through specific combat actions. Your priority when building Chiz is to maximize how quickly she generates Grain per rotation, then convert those stacks into burst windows.

Core mechanic — Grain generation: Grain accumulates from skill activations and charged attacks. The rate at which you generate Grain directly determines how often Chiz can enter her amplified burst state. Missing Grain generation windows is the most common mistake — focus on consistent input timing rather than waiting for big openings.

Chiz’s signature Arc is obtained through the same City Tycoon progression that unlocks her, making it completely free. It provides a Grain generation bonus that no standard-banner Arc replicates, giving it a clear advantage over alternatives. Grind City Tycoon consistently to obtain both Chiz and her optimal weapon simultaneously.

Stat priority:

1. Grain generation — prioritize any module or sub-stat that speeds Grain accumulation
2. CRIT (Rate then Damage) — Chiz’s burst state crits independently, so crit ceiling matters
3. Cosmos DMG% — amplifies the burst window output

Endgame targets: CRIT Rate 55%+, CRIT DMG 110%+, Cosmos DMG% 40%+.

Module set: Use the Cosmos DMG set for straightforward burst amplification. Chiz’s Grain conversion window benefits from Cosmos DMG% more than flat ATK because the burst hit multipliers are percentage-based.

Awakening notes: Chiz’s awakening nodes are mechanic-driven and tied to specific Grain interaction thresholds. The community recommendation is to focus on whichever node improves Grain generation rate first. Verify the exact order against up-to-date sources, as Chiz’s mechanic has received balance adjustments since preview.

Best Teams

Charged Loop: Chiz / Haniel / Esper Zero / flex. Haniel’s Hootie ATK buff covers Chiz’s damage window. Esper Zero’s Divide-by-Zero Ult burst pairs with Chiz’s own Grain conversion phase — both characters have burst windows that align in a ~30-second rotation cycle. Exploration and open world: Chiz’s Cosmos/Gas kit provides decent AoE coverage for mob clearing. Her Grain conversion punishes clustered enemies effectively, making her one of the better exploration DPS options even if she does not reach the top tier in endgame bossing.

You do not pull for Chiz. She is a completely free S+-rarity character gated behind the City Tycoon progression system. Reaching Level 18 requires consistent daily engagement with the mode but costs zero gacha resources.

For F2P players, Chiz is the correct choice for the “free strong DPS” slot. Pair her with Haniel (also free from pre-registration) and Esper Zero (free protagonist) to assemble a competitive team with no Annulith investment.

Save your pulls for limited SS characters like Nanally or T0 buffers like Sakiri — check the tier list for the current priority order. Chiz holds the fort while you accumulate pull currency.
