Worth pulling?
B-tier healer outclassed by Fadia (better Tank+Heal hybrid). Skip unless you hit on standard banner.
Edgar is NTE’s dedicated Healer at A-rarity — a Cosmos/Liquid support whose kit focuses on restoring party HP through skill activations and his Ultimate. At launch he sits at T3, primarily because Fadia provides a similar sustain function with the added benefit of raw Tank HP and DEF that makes her more durable in the same team slot. Edgar fills a situational niche for players who specifically want a dedicated healer rather than a Tank/Heal hybrid.
How to Play
Edgar’s role is pure sustain: activate skills to restore teammate HP, use Ultimate for burst healing in emergency situations, and stay alive long enough to keep the team functional. He does not meaningfully contribute damage and does not enable reactions through his Cosmos element (no primary Cosmos DPS teammates require Edgar’s specific element for reaction synergies at launch).
Core healing loop:
- Monitor party HP — Edgar is reactive by nature, not proactive
- Use skill activations to restore HP during standard combat
- Reserve Ultimate for burst heal when a DPS drops to critical HP levels
- Swap back to DPS as quickly as possible to maintain damage output
Edgar’s weakness is opportunity cost: the team slot he occupies could instead hold Fadia, who provides survivability through HP bulk and DEF rather than reactive healing. Against burst damage patterns (the dominant boss archetype in NTE), reactive healing is slower and less reliable than simply having enough HP to absorb the hit.
Stat targets:
- HP: 35,000+ — healing scales with max HP in most kits
- Healing Bonus: Maximize all available Healing Bonus sub-stats
- Cosmos DMG%: Tertiary — minor contribution to personal damage output
Awakening priority: A1 is the first priority, improving the base healing kit’s output or activation conditions. Detailed node effects are not fully documented at launch — verify against community sources as data becomes available.
Arc: Use the best available Cosmos/Liquid Arc with HP% or Healing Bonus as the sub-stat. Edgar does not have a signature Arc; standard banner pulls provide his best-in-slot options.
Module set: HP% is the primary module investment. Healing Bonus modules are the secondary fill if available.
When Edgar Outperforms Fadia
Despite ranking below Fadia overall, Edgar has specific scenarios where his pure healer role is genuinely preferable:
| Scenario | Edgar | Fadia |
|---|---|---|
| Very long sustained fights | Reactive healing prevents HP death spiral | HP bulk may deplete without regeneration |
| Comp already has a Tank | Provides healing without duplicate Tank role | Redundant survivability |
| No DoT healing needed | Edgar covers standard damage | Fadia cannot heal DoT damage that bypasses shields |
If your team already has Fadia as the Tank and you need a second survival character, Edgar filling the healer slot is not unreasonable. Similarly, in content with sustained DoT damage that chips through Fadia’s shields, Edgar’s active healing can outperform Fadia’s passive HP absorption.
Best Teams
Situational Sustain: Edgar pairs with any team that needs active healing rather than HP bulk. Example: Edgar / Nanally / Sakiri / Haniel in a content mode with sustained DoT that would deplete Fadia’s HP over time. Edgar keeps Nanally topped up without requiring a Tank slot.
For exploration and story content, Edgar performs adequately — his healing is sufficient for the damage levels in those modes, and the gap between him and Fadia is not meaningful outside endgame.
Not recommended for: Boss Rush, Discord Control, or any timed endgame content where Fadia’s superior bulk provides more reliable survival. See Fadia’s build for the Tank alternative.
Worth Pulling?
Edgar is B-tier in the current launch meta. If you obtain him from the standard banner as a byproduct of pulling for S-rarity characters, build him as a fallback healer for content that specifically demands active HP restoration.
Do not spend limited Annulith targeting Edgar. The 160 Annulith per pull cost puts every Edgar pull in direct competition with S-rarity characters like Daffodill (T1 Break) or Jiuyuan (T1 Sub DPS) who deliver significantly more endgame value.
If you need a sustain character and have no Tank, use the S-Class Selector for Fadia instead — she covers both Tank and passive sustain in one slot. Check the tier list for the full healer rankings and the teams guide for team compositions that include sustain characters.
